Spending spare time hearing others’ ideas is hugely important. It’s really surprising how much each of us knows, we just don’t have time to sit down and listen.
Where and when that happens should be flexible but real because it benefits us personally, our professions, and the world around us. It can be:
- among our professional friends trying to improve the design of our cities
- among our book club friends
- working on improving our politics
- learning from each others beliefs
Everything works better when we listen to each other in small groups, 8 to 10 people work best. The agenda is always adjustable, so is the time and place of the next meeting. But it is important in this world of information overload that we take real, regular time to listen to each other.
