Midnight Sun, Jo Nesbo, 2015
Nesbo has made quite a name as a writer of “Scandinavian noir.” This book doesn’t quite fit that mold. It does involve a criminal protagonist, one with a career-threatening hangup–he can’t bring himself to actually shoot anyone. The trouble he gets into, the unreal world of the North where he flees, and his escapades with the local Sami population make a wonderful tale. There’s love, there’s suspense, there’s action, and it all will make you smile.
